Very nice, clean, tightly bound books. Spines have darkened and show darker spotting at Volume IV, but boards have not darkened at all. Instead there are occasional light spots. Spine labels show a little rubbing at intervals and the red lettering reading "Theodore Roosevelt" is faded, but black printing of titles is quite good. There is also a small bit of wear to edge at crowns and tails of spines, and mild foxing to endpapers -- pages unaffected. Bound in maps. Illustration at frontis of each. Volumes include I. From the Alleghanies to the Mississippi 1769-1776; (1903); From the Alleghanies to the Mississippi 1777-1783 (1905); The Founding of the Trans-Alleghany Commonwealths 1784-1790 (1905); and Louisiana and the Northwest 1791-1807 (1912).
