Erte Exhibition 1987/88 (Price Sheet Laid-in) London Sevenarts Ltd. (Grosvenor Gallery) 1987 Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall Beautiful, fanciful, charming -- the adjectives could be strung like pearls on a necklace to describe the works of the famous Russian artist, Erte, whose work graced the cover of Harper's Bazaar more than 200 times. Erte was a Russian artist whose early introduction to Persian art inspired him to pursue a career which included not only cover art, but costumes and stage designs of spectacular merit. This exhibit catalog is not seen often and is in clean, tightly bound condition. The art is all in color and celebrates the five year collaboration between Erte and Leon Leonidoff who from 1963-68 was director of Radio City Music Hall. The catalog marks the first time these works were ever viewed in exhibition. Included with the catalog is a price sheet still in its pocket at back. The catalog measures 8-3/4"x12" and has twenty pages.

FMR Magazines No. 5 and No. 6, 1984 Milan, Italy Franco Maria Ricci 1984 Soft Covr Fine 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall This has been called "the most beautiful magazine in the world", and if you are an art lover you may agree. Ricci is an Italian publisher, not only of the magazine, but also of high quality books on art. Publication is confined to six issues per year of which these are the last two of the first year, dated 1984 and stating first year at the top. This is the ENGLISH version -- it is published in French, Spanish, German and Italian as well. The magazines are oversized at 9"x12" and high quality all the way, from the feel of the paper to the magnifcent illustrations. Both are clean as a whistle inside and out with no spine crease and contain laid-in subscription information for charter members. Among the treats awaiting in No. 5 are articles about Mussolini's beautiful statues of nude men which had been surreptitiously "covered up" by a cabinet member in the Italian government,(but are not here); the river boat art of James Bard with text by Charles Dickens, Japanese calligraphy and the traditional art of the Plains Indians. No 6 likewise offers delights to both the eye and the mind with such article topics as the graveyard art of the the New England Puritans; the woven rugs of Armenia; and 19th century "androids," or mechanical people. The latter's photography is outstanding. Truly beautiful.
