Shows almost no wear to exterior save a small bit at tail of spine. Contents likewise pristine with faint foxing to title page and two pages at back, otherwise snow white. Large fold-out map at back is very crisp. One tear has been repaired at reverse of map with non-browning, almost invisible archival tape. Illustrated throughout with maps, black and white photographs, and drawings. Chatpers cover the islands and their people. language, material culture, religion, art, and society. 5-3/4"x8" and has 244 pages. Indexed.

Illustrated with black and white photographs at center of book. A fascinating look at the Tsembaga Maring, a group of farmers whose practice of slash and burn techniques are actually complex rituals involving spirits.
