Reviers-Hopkins, A.E. Little Books About Old Furniture; the Sheraton Period; Post Chippendale Designers 1760-1820 London Frederick A. Stokes Co Hard Cover Near Fine These little charmers were published as part of a set, but are also good stand-alones for those interested in only a specific style. They're also fun to collect though and very attractive on the shelf. This is an exceedingly nice one with clean, untoned pages, no names or writing, and only a whisper of wear. The gilt is bright and the beveled edges most handsome. It measures a wee 5"x7-1/2". Definitely the nicest copy we've come across. It's quite nicely illustrated with one color photo at frontis and many more at back of book in black and white printed on glossy paper. Text discusses old furniture and modern tastes, offers a chronological lists of post-Chippendale designers; and then goes on to explain Ince and Mayhew's "Universal System"; Manwaring's "Chair Maker's Friend"; Hepplewhite and "The Guide"; Shearer and"The Book of Prices"; Sheraton, the man and his aims; Sheraton and "The Drawing Book"; Sheraton period furniture and Sheraton, Empire, and Trafalgar seats and chairs. 135 pages. Indexed. Price:
