Roach, Frederick A. Hooker's Finest Fruits; A Selection of Paintings of Fruits by William Hooker (1779-1832) New York Prentice-Hall Press 1989 First Edition Thus Hard Cover Fine Very Good Lovely condition with only one small tear and wrinkle to lower front corner and a bit of sunning to just the top front edge caused by book being taller than the one next to it on the shelf and facing the window. Otherwise it's clean as a whistle inside and out with no names or writing and pristine pages and page edges. It's a large book measuring 9"x12-1/4", has not been price-clipped, and is very attractive in a brand new mylar cover.Hooker was, and is, one of the finest botanical illustrators, but he was also an artist who gardened, so his love of plants extended beyond visual appreciation. The paintings, those here being a portion of the total, were commissioned by the Horticultural Society of London and consisted of a wide array of fruit types, all of which are meticulously described. Book includes 96 color plates and is very beautiful. Price:
20.00 USD
