The author, Amos Sutton Hayden, was himself a minister of a Disciples of Christ Church in Cuyahoga County in the mid-1880's and also founder of the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute where he served as the school’s first principal until 1857, when he was replaced iby one of his former students, James A. Garfield. By the time of this writing he was primarily an author and composer. Book offers much church history throughout the Western Reserve, as well as an interesting chapter on the emergence of Mormonism in the area. 476 pages. Ads for additional titles at back of book.
