1 Woolcott, Alexander Cosette and the Saint-Cyrien
Chicago: Toby Rubovits, Inc. 1943
Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Good. No Edition Stated. Privately Printed. Alexander Woolcott, perhaps best known for the famous line, "Everything I like to do is either immoral, illegal, or fattening" died in 1943 just before this booklet was published. He suffered a heart attack while participating in a roundtable radio broadcast about Hitler. In fact, a few lines on the last page state, "Although Mr. Alexander Woolcott did not provide the direction for the cover design, it is intended to meet what he might have accepted as adequate.." Contains a reprint of a story which appeared in the New Yorker in February, 1930. Book measures 6x7-1/4" and is very clean inside and out. Dark blue wraps featured fleaur de lis and thistle in a shield design. Small tears at top and bottom of spine and a few small edgetears, but still quite well bound. Unpaginated.
Price: 15.00 USD
