First edition. Ex-lib., but very nice in protective mylar. Hardbound. Extremely clean with minimal markings. Fast and funny novel for middle grade readers. Eight year-old Gillie is beside herself when her gorgeous, body conscious sister must return from her Boston college when their father loses his job. The family depends on Krista getting a temporary job, but between dancing, jogging and showering, Krista never seems to find time. But voila! Gillie and her best friend Hank turn out to be talented job finders.

The bright, unabashed art is just right for the story of a fiery little New Yorker who turns a gift of paints into a wonderful surprise for Grammy who works in the subway station. Filled with fun and exhuberance!.

Ex-lib., but very nice with minimal markings. Hardbound with DJ covered in protective mylar. Lovely clean copy. Juvenile fiction. Historical. In relatively few pages, the author manages to weave a tale of loss and redemption for a family who yearned for WWII to end so their soldier husband/father could come home again. Wonderfully evocative of the period.

Book itself is very clean and beautiful. No bumps to boards and no names or writing. There is a vintage-looking bookplate on front free endpaper which contains a quote about books, but has not been written on. Book is SIGNED by illustrator, P.J. Lynch, on title page thus: Best Wishes, P.J. Lynch." Book's jacket has not been price-clipped and shows only a small bit of wear to upper back corners. Most handsome in brand new mylar. P.J. Lynch, an Irish artist, twice won the prestigious Kate Greenaway Prize, once for this book, which relates the story of a young girl chosen by her rabbi to make the journey to America. Lovely, story, lovely art.
