No Author 12 Postcards, Lorain, Sandusky, Ohio Tornado June 28, 1924 1924 Very Good June 28, 1924 was just another summer day with temperatures in the 80's in the cities of Lorain and Sandusky. Ohio when suddenly it hit -- the deadliest tornado in Ohio history. From the time it swooped in off Lake Erie to the moment it subsided, it killed 85 people, 72 in the city of Lorain alone. Of these, 15, mostly teenagers, lost their lives at the State Theater where they were among an audience of eighty watching a musical. These twelve cards in black and white, show the massive destruction. Scenes include the interior of the State Theater with rescue workers, two homes at Fifth Street and Hamilton, a residential district on the east side with the American Ship Building plant in the background, another residential area showing an upturned streetcard in the foreground, a residence on Mildred Avenue, the remains of the First Church of Christ, two couples in front of a wrecked home on the east side, a scene on Delaware Ave. and East Streets where one building was turned complete over, West Erie Avenue looking S.E. in the Lakewood Allotment, a scene looking east from Delaware Avenue, the Congregational church after it had fallen onto the fire station, and a grocery store on Erie near the bridge on the east side. All cards are unused with mild corner wear to some and light soiling to backs. One also has a crease to lower corner. Overall nice in protective plastic sleeves. Price:

No Author 150th Anniversary Issue of the New York Post The New York Post, 1951 Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Very Good. November 12, 1951. When the New York Post was first published in 1801 it consisted of four pages. A century and a half later it was up to a whopping ninety-six, which management was quick to point out, was "all our presses can carry." This nicely preserved anniversary edition features a photo and message from Harry Truman on the front with a good wishes to the paper. Inside there are old pieces by William Cullen Bryant and enough nostalgia to provide some history lessons. Great ads too -- we love the one placed by the United Hatters, Cap and Millinery Workers International Union with the caption "We tip our hats to the N.Y. Post." Nice piece of the past in need of continued preservation. Price:

No Author 1965 Frigidaire Electric Ranges Frigidaire, 1965 Soft Cover. Very Good/Very Good, Wraps. Oblong. Remember when appliances were pale yellow and aqua? That was a generation before avacado and harvest gold! Here they are again in living color in this wonderful brochure which offers some unusual innovations that never seemed to make it to the finish line. There are 40" ranges and ranges with pull-out burners, but the real star of the show was the Pull n' Clean range -- the oven pulled out like a drawer for easy access. What we found fascinating about, aside from the appliances themselves, are the children playing in close proximity to the range. Iin one picture a small child is standing on the back of an older one to reach the top oven of the 30" Twinset! How times have changed. Interesting piece of ephemera. Price:

No Author A Book of Indoor Marches for the Pianoforte Philadelphia Theodore Presser 1928 No Edition Stated Soft Cover Very Good Wraps, Very Good The word pianoforte is as mysterious and magical as the tones of the actual instrument invented by Italian, Bartolemeo Cristofori in the 18th century. It comes from the Italian piano e forte, which means soft and loud, and was so named for the gradation of its tone in contrast with the harpsichord. This book of music is in amazingly crisp, clean condition. In fact, we were surprised to note its publication date. It measures 9-1/4"x12-1/4" and contains 55 pages with the full musical score for 22 marches from the collegiate Delta Kappa Epsilon, to the more spiritual Church March, to the ethnic Hungarian March, all the way to the lighthearted Gay Katydids' March. No author Stated Around the Clock with Rocky and Ruthie Akron, Ohio Saalfield Publishing 1947 Soft Cover Very Good Very nice clean book measuring 6"x11" with bright attractive cover design. Only fault is one flat crease to bottom back corner. Amazing this book survived in such great condition because it was designed as an activity book in which children were encouraged to clip pictures of products from ads in the newspaper and past them at the appropriate places in the story. Fortunately, this copy survived unscathed! Story shows the brother and sister at various times throughout the day beginning with brushing their teeth (toothplaste ad required) to a pre-bedtime game of naming trademarks. Rather odd, but cute. No author Stated Atkins Saws In The Home & Atkins Silver Steel Dado Heads (Vintage Advertising Brochures from E.C. Atkins & Company) Indianpolis: E.C. Atkins & Company No Edition Stated Soft Cover Very Good Wraps, Very Good Though some would argue that Diston Saws, made in Philadelphia, were the finest handtools of the 19th and early 20th centuries, others would rank products made by the E.C. Atkins Co. of Indianapolis right up there with the best of them. This wonderful brochure entitled Atkins Saws in the Home gets the point across with both its cover graphic of a smiling man using a hand saw and this snappy copy: "Mr. Happy Man says a saw that 'chews' may cost less but the saw to choose is an Atkins. The Finest On Earth." Though the trifold brochure is undated, it appears to be early 20th century. It measures 4x9" folded, 12" by 9" when opened and 12x18" when extended to full size. The graphics of the full extended page are fabulous --wonderful images of the various saws produced by the company in black and white against a light grey background banded in the same blue as front cover.Copy includes Hint for the Home Workshop, Useful Facts & Figures, How To Care For A Good Saw, plus info on the company and its motto -- "For the man who does things." We will also include a smaller brochure advertising Atkins Silver Steel Dado Heads printed with the name Waco Tool Works of Chicago. This, too, is a trifold, but measures just 3-1/2" x6" closed. Both are in very good condition with just a small bit of soling to outer fold of larger brochure.A special gift for the antique tool collector. Price:

No Author Automatic Numbering Machines of Every Description and Hand Stamp Supplies (Vintage Catalog No. 104) New York Wm. A. Force & Company Soft Cover Very Good Wraps, Very Good There's no date on this wonderful vintage catalog, but judging by the great graphics and the technology, we're inclined to place it in the 1930's. It measures 7x10" with dark green card covers and raised gilt printing and design to front. It's also designed with a hole punch at the upper left corner for hanging, so it's never far from reach! Although the front endpapers have darkened, the rest of the pages are clean as a whistle. The only external wear is at crown and tail of spine where there is a small bit of tearing. The best part is definitely the inside where there are graphics on practically every page with descriptions of products, including hand, foot and power numbering, dating and printing machines, typographical numbering machines, hand stamp supplies, stamp pads and inks, vulcanizers and accessories, check protectors, seal presses, rubber type and holders, sign markers and more. 216 pages in all.
