Overman, William D. Ohio Place Names; The Origin of the Names of Over 500 Ohio Cities, Town and Villages Akron, Ohio: Edward Brothers, Inc. 1951 Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Very Good. No Edition Stated. Privately Printed. Very nice, clean copy of a scarce title. Marred only by former owner's name written at top of front cover. Fascinating little book filled with history, aside from the name origins. For example, Ashland Ohio, was originally called Uniontown, but was changed for postal reasons in 1822. The new name "Ashland" was chosen by Congressman John Sloan in honor of Henry Clay whose historic Kentucky home was called Ashland. A book for a Buckeye to get lost in. Price:
30.00 USD
