Nice, clean book lacking DJ. Blue boards show handsome gilt printing to spine. Vey minor wear with one small crease to upper back corner. Front free endpaper almost completely toned due to insertion of newspaper article which has since been removed. Former owner's name and town (London) written there in a shaky hand. Light foxing to back endpapers and to side edge of textblock. Overall quite respectable. 37 illustrations and an accessible text explaining the place of the gild in Western European history with chapters on individual glds, plus various misteries, fraternities and companies. 401 oages. Indexed.
