Schnittkind, Henry T. The Stratford Magazine Boston: The Stratford Co. Publishers, 1928 Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Good. August, 1928, Vol. III, No. 7. Very uncommon to find a copy of this old literary magazine tucked away for safekeeping, though one of its authors, Colin Clements, did win an O. Henry Award in 1930 for his short story "Lobster John's Annie." This issue includes stories and poems, including one poem by Martha Banning Thomas, a minor popular poet of the day whose work was used to advertise cigars. Contents are very clean and nice. Wraps have a small pink circular stain over to the far right of front cover , a bit of staining to bottom of rear cover and a few very small edgetears. Measures 5x7-3/4" and was billed as "A Periodical For Creative Readers." Sold in a plain green wrapper! Price:

Very uncommon to find a copy of this old literary magazine tucked away for safekeeping, though one of its authors, Colin Clements, did win an O. Henry Award in 1930 for his short story "Lobster John's Annie." This issue includes stories and poems, including reprints of two famous pieces -- "Makar Chudra" by Maxim Gorki (1892) and "Oh! So Sleepy" by Anton Chekhov (1922), though the latter is more commonly known as simply "Sleepy" Magazine measures 5x7-3/4" and is tightly bound with just a tiny piece of lower rear corner missing and a few spots to first page of the Gorki story. 46 pages and sold in a plain orange wrapper.
