Lovely book -- very clean and nice with pristine pages. Only real fault is a small bit of chipping to upper back corner which is nearly invisible in mylar because the white liner is almost the same color as the dustjacket. SIGNED and inscribed by author on title page thus, "To ----. best wishes and good luck. Mary Ellen Ester May 30, 1998." She also signed a small card laid-in with a train stamp on one side and a sticker showing a train and the title of the book on the other. The author, an Ohioan, grew up in a family in which many of the men devoted their lives to the railroad until finally the Golden Age of locomotives ended and they no longer planned both small events and large around the schedule of the trains. Here she tells this uniquely American story in a novel of the railroads and the people who helped them prosper. 311 pages.
