5 Library Bureau Library Supplies Catalog 1942
Library Bureau Division of Remington Rand Soft Cover Very Good
A beautiful catalog enhanced by samples of various mending papers and cloth for book repair tipped in. It's clean as a whistle with no spine crease and measures 8-1/2"x11" with 96 pages printed on coated paper. One small, flat creas to lower fron corner. There is no date, but a bit of detective work places it precisely at 1942. Its advertising boasts 60 years experience and the company became Library Bureau (formerly Readers & Writers Economy Co. started by Melville Dewey, one of the founders of the ALA) in 1882 which brings it to 1942. The second clue was the order blanks tipped in at back. The buyer could send the order to any number of branches with address provided for each, none of which had even the two digit postal code. The postal code system did not debut until 1943. The catalog is beautifully illustrated with all manner of lovely, obsolete library items replete with prices and descriptions. If you love library stuff, this one is very special.

6 M & H Radio Catalog 1933
Philadelphia, PA M & H Sporting Goods Co. 1933 Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9" - 12" tall
M & H Sporting Goods was a giant in its day, but until now they had for me been synonymous with fishing equipment. It seems, however, that they had a radio division and this is its catalog. The cover announces radio equipment "for amateur stations, short-wave experiementers, theatres, television, public address systems, broadcast stations, home talkies, and servicemen."The catalog is clean and tightly bound with just a small bit of wear to bottom of spine. The front cover shows some rubbing to black areas and a few small creases to lower front cover, but is overall quite nice. The back is the same. Unlike many radio catalogs of the day, this one used a slightly better quality paper which kept it from browning. Consequently, pages are hardly toned at all.Catalog measures 8-1/2"x10-3/4" and has 120 page. Lafayette Radio catalog from the 30's also available.

Texas On Paper Organized and Curated by Cheryl A. Brutvan and Linda Cathcart, Brutman, Cheryl A.; Cathcart, Linda
12 Brutman, Cheryl A.; Cathcart, Linda Texas On Paper Organized and Curated by Cheryl A. Brutvan and Linda Cathcart
Houston and New York New York Independent Curators Incorporated and the Houston Contemporary Arts Museum 1982 Presumed First Card Cover Very Good Very Good Portfolio 4to - over 9" - 12" tall
This is not the usual art catalog which presents the works in booklet form. This one is a portfolio which contains fifteen cards measuring 8" x 11" with the works on the front and the artist's biography on the back. The fifteen artists are these and all are accounted for: Linda Blackburn, Suzanne Hitt Bocanegra, Jean A. Dibble, Michael Doga, Vernon Fisher, Roberto Munguia, Bradley R. Petersen, Jim Poag, Albert T. Scherbarth, Charles Schorre, Gael Stack, Earl Staley, William Steen, James Surls, and Danny Williams. There are also three more cards which offer commentary from the curators, plus an errata page. All cards are clean and nice, as is the folder, though the latter has a small crease to the upper corner which I have re-enforced on the back with a small piece of archival tape. This is a fairly scarce item considering that the exhibit traveled for three years in Boulder, Colorado; Abilene Texas; Tyler, Texas; Buffalo, New York; Tucson, Arizona; and Amarillo, Texas.

The Artist's Mother Portraits and Homages (1988), Coller, Barbara; Gedo, John E.; Kuspit, Donald
13 Coller, Barbara; Gedo, John E.; Kuspit, Donald The Artist's Mother Portraits and Homages (1988)
Huntington, New York Heckscher Art Museum 1987 First Edition Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9" - 12" tall
This is a rather unusual topic in which artists such as Picasso, Faith Ringgold, Audrey Flack, Arshile Gorky and others offer insights on the aspects of mothers. The essays include "The Artist's Mother Portraits and Homages" by Barbara Coller; "Sometimes A Mother is a Mother, At Other Times She Is Only Someone Else" by John E. Gedo; and "Representing the Mother, Representing the Unpresentable?" by Donald Kuspit. There's a lot to read and many beautiful color and black and white art. The catalog measures 8-1.2" x 11 and 63 pages. Cleand and bright with two small corner creases at front cover which have been reglued by me and are lying flat. The exhibition began in Huntington, New York in 1987 and then went to the National Gallery in 1988.

Lace Thorough the Centuries 1600-1920 (Exihbition catalog 1984), Henley, Byding Adams
14 Henley, Byding Adams Lace Thorough the Centuries 1600-1920 (Exihbition catalog 1984)
Birmingham, Alabama Birmingham Museum of Art 1986 Reprint Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9" - 12" tall
The story of handmade lace has always interested me. Those who wore it were rich - those who made it went blind. At one point it was so valuable that dogs were relieved of their fur which was replaced with a fur "coat" that was stuffed with lace so it could be smuggled. I doubt that story is in here, as the focus is on the exhibit which was held in 1984. This was a second printing in 1986. It covers needlepoint lace, bobbin lace, bobbin applique lace, machine lace and imitation lace, plus lace clothing. Booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11 with 42 pages. All photos are described at back. Very clean and tightly bound with no names or writing.

This is an incredibly beautiful art catalog published to accompany an exhibit in Boston at Vose Galleries which ran from May 30 to July 31, 1998. The subject's work is exquisite and there is so much research done here that you can't go away without feeling you met her. The first part is about Mary and herself and the second part is about Fenway Sudios and the artists who were part of itm, including the subject. Catalog is illustrated with both color and black and white photographs. It measures 8-1/4"x11" and has 54 pages printed on quality coated paper. 19 No Author Stated Studebaker Cars Catalog Big-Six and Special-Six Models (1924)
South Bend, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; Canada The Studebaker Corporation of Americ 1924 Soft Cover Very Good 4to - over 9
What an elegant presentation for the 1924 models of Studebaker cars. Beautiful photography and detailed descriptions of all models. The pages are made of quality coated paper and look very attractive with a light green background and ruled edges. The catalog measures 7-3/4" x 10-3/4" and has 28 pages. The green cover has embossed gilt printing which adds to the beauty. The only defect is a light dampstain to lower edges at front and back of ark green cover. It's very subtle -- I didn't notice until I was photographing. It's very nice altogether with no problem to pages which are pristine.
