Toronto, Canada The Musson Book Company 1939 Hard Cover Very Good No DJs Ex-Library (University) SIGNED & Inscribed By Author
A very nice clean set showing mild wear only. Missing jackets, ex-university library copies, but tightly bound and bringing with them an interesting provenance. The Land Bird volume shows the handsome bookplate of the California Acadamy of Sciences James Moffat Library on the front pastedown. Across from it on the front free endpaper the author wrote, "The first copy to my friend Jim Moffitt in memory of a very pleasant visit. P.A. Travener June 24, 1939." under which Moffitt signed his own name. The Water Bird book was again insccribed and signed by the author thus, "To Jim Moffitt with ? of a pleasant visit and best wishes, P.A. Travener Dec. 25, 1939." Again, Moffitt likewise signed his name. Library markings are few -- a rather handsome sticker to spine od each which could easily be removed and a discreet withdrawn stamp. Each book measures 4-3/4"x7". Illustrations are softly tinted and quite lovely.
