Some Living; A Collection By Lloyd Battista, Battista, Lloyd
11 Battista, Lloyd Some Living; A Collection By Lloyd Battista
Unknown Self-published 1961 Limited Edition Soft Cover Good-plus SIGNED by Author
Mild toning to cover edge nearest spine, but otherwise a clean, tightly bound book which may be the work of the actor/writer with the same name. He was born in Cleveland in 1937 and the book was purchased in Cleveland from a small edition. If this is the actor -- and I do think it is -- he was 24 years old at the time. His first acting credit came in the late 60's and by 1970 he was on his way. The book was inexpensively published with a plastic comb binding measuring 6"x7-3/4" with 62 pages. The poetry is not bad at all given his youth and the book is SIGNED by author thus: "The greatest thing anyone can do for a writer is to buy his work and read it. Thank you -- I hope you enjoy it. Lloyd Battista." The original owner's name is written across from it on the reverse side of the cover and is dated 1961.

19 Brinkley, Douglas The Majic Bus An American Odyssey (SIGNED 1st Ed.)
New York Harcourt-Brace 1993 051556946 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good Very Good
I somehow missed this book when it came out, but it's a great read. It's about a a young professor, the author, who took 17 students on a sleep-over bus as part of Hofstra University's traveling course, Art and Culture Across America. This was the maiden voyage and it included reading 12 books by great American writers, saw Bob Dylan in Seattle, gambled at a Vegas casino, danced to Bourbon Street jazz in New Orleans, visited Elvis Presley's Graceland and William Faulkner's Rowan Oak. But that wasn't all -- they meditated at a Buddhist college, branded cattle, hiked the Rockies rode the rapids in the Rio Grande, and experienced an earthquake. After that it was time to have a look at America's history. The book is a first edition, SIGNED by the author to Neil Postman, an American author himself, as well as an. educator, media theorist and cultural critic. He was also noted for his book Amusing Ourselves to Death, published in 1992.. This book is clean and tightly bound with no creasing to paper . There are no tears or chips to dustjacket and no priceclip. It will arrive in a brand new mylar cover. The only faults are small flat creases to the corners. Very minor, Book measures 9-1/4" x 7-1/4" and has 513 pages.

Bromfield is noted for his agricultue experiement at his Ohio Malabar Farm, but this book is a work of fiction. The book is clean and tightly bound, but lost its dustjacket. The only other fault is a small stain to blue top exterior edge. There is also book plate at front free endpaper that almost looks at first glance as though its's part ofthe design. The pay-off is the title page upon which Bromfield SIGNED thus, "With Best Wishes, Louis Bromfield." He also wrote his location, Malabar Farm, at the top and dated it 1939. The book came out originally in 1933. It measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and has 346 clean and tightly bound pages.
