A Friend Paper Doll, Anglund, Joan Walsh
5 Anglund, Joan Walsh A Friend Paper Doll
USA Boucher Associates 1967 Box -- Hard Very Good
Joan Walsh Anglund was a huge hit in the 60's and 70's and still has a following today. I have sold several of her sweet little books and have a couple on here at this writing. This, however, is not a book. It's a paper doll with 12 outfits none of which have been cut. The dolls and her clothes are in great shape, the scissors is still there, and so is the stand. The only thing missing is a small tube of glue which would be dried out anyway if were there. The doll is 5" tall. The box itself measures 5-3/4" x 6". There's a few nicks here and there to the box, mostly at the edges, but not too bad. Overall this is a nice collectible

Donald Duck Treasury; Donald Duck's Toy Train. Donald Duck's Adventure; Donald Duck and the Witch (A Giant Little Golden Book 1st edition), Bedord, Annie North
10 Bedord, Annie North Donald Duck Treasury; Donald Duck's Toy Train. Donald Duck's Adventure; Donald Duck and the Witch (A Giant Little Golden Book 1st edition)
New York Simon & Schuster 1957 First Edition Hard Cover Good-plus
Technically, this is a book, but when it dates from the 50's it's also ephemeral. Lots and lots of bad things can happen over almost 60 years to an inexpensive book given to kids! It's a rather hard-to-find title which contains three stories about the Disney character, Donald Duck -- Donald Duck's Toy Train; Donald Duck's Adventure; and Donald Duck and the Witch. It's a first edition as per letter "A" found at lower corner of gutter on the last page. The book shows mild wear to extremities including a small loss of foil to spine at top and bottom, but is very clean and tightly bound. Former owner's name is written on reverse of front cover in printed area designed for adding it. It's dated December 25, 1959. Full color illustration by Walt Disney Studio. Measures 6-1/2"x8" and is unpaginated.

11 Beisner, Monika A Folding Alphabet Book
New York Farrar Straus Giroux 1982 Laminated Fine in Near Fine Box Beisner, Monika
What a delight this scarce little book is and still in its original box. Later edition, as it was copyrighted in 1979 and this printing from 1978. Book is designed to open like an accordion with the cover being the same as the pages and fashioned of the same laminated cardstock. The book measures approximately 3" across and 4" high and fits easily into its sturdy matching box. It's a two sided book with the charming illustrations on one side in color and the short text on the other side. only fault is a small mark on the bottom of the reverse side of the box and a small repair to top left of box with a thin, almost invisible piece of archival tape. Very nice!

12 Blos, Joan W. A Gathering of Days : A New England Girl's Journal, 1830-1832
New York Atheneum 1979 0684163403 / 9780684163406 11th Printing Hard Cover Fine Near Fine SIGNED & Inscribed By Author
An exceptionally nice copy. Book itself is in fine condition -- clean as a whistle inside and out. Inscribed and signed by author on title page thus: "For ----- with best wishes from Joan Blos, 9/15/87" Dustjacket is likewise very clean and paper retains its crispness. Has not been price-clipped and is most handsome in brand new mylar. Retains Newbery Award seal at front. Only fault is a small bit of rubbing at front near top and bottom of spine. This book is a multi-award winner. Not only did it claim the 1980 Newbery, the highest honor awarded a children's author, but also won the American Book Award and was an American Library Association Notable. A slim, but satisfiying, novel told in journal form of a young girl's life on the farm in early America. It offers much insight into the activities of those days, but also shows how a single year can bring so much change and, and at the same time, lessons and growth. 145 pages.
