Measures 8"x10" and has 59 pages. Plain white cover shows flat creases at front and back and one tiny spot to front, but is otherwise clean and nice.

Beautiful book, beautifully maintained. Bound in matched buffalo hide with 24 carat gold ornamentation and printing to both boards and spine. Endpapers fashioned from silk moire and there is also a red, white and blue satin ribbon marker bound in. Top edge is gilded with all gilt present and bright. Laid-in is a certification of first edition status signed by the person who hand bound it. Text is also printed on archival paper to prevent deterioration.Title page appears to be autographed, but it appears to be via auto-pen, as there is no gradation of color which would indicate variation in pressure by signer. However, it is stamped as #AE480 of the single collector's edition.This is a massive book which combines three books in one -- Lafayette Comes To America; Lafayette Joins the American Army and Lafayette and the Close of the American Revolution. It is nicely illustrated with fold-out maps and has slightly over 1000 pages.

It's been a while since I've had a set of Howe's Historical Collections, a two volume set which is an Ohio classic. This one was published in 1900, which makes it an early printing, but not a first edition. As are many, this set is rebound in (brown) cloth with gilt printing to spines. The text is very clean with no marks or writing. Page edges are likewise clean, though toned and with a small odd stain on the bottom edge in the same place (see photo). Set includes the geography and geology of Ohio; mines and mining; public lands; and more, plus an historical look at each county in the state and its pioneers. Very useful for geneaology. 992 pages and Illustrated throughout. Henry Howe's history also inspired Pulitzer prize-winning author, Conrad Richter's trilogy.

The book measures 8"x10-1/4" The specially designed bookplate affixed to front pastedown is a precursor of the wonderful drawings to come. Each city -- there are 71 in the U.S. and four in Canada -- gets a full page of text on right hand side and a detailed drawing on the left. It's a beauty!

All are nicely illustrated, include maps, have an extensive text,and are comprised of between 40-60 pages. They measure 6"x9" The collection includes the following titles: Chicamauga and Chattanooga Battlefields,Shiloh, Antietam, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Manassas (Bull Run) and The Lincoln Museum and the House Where Lincoln Died, the latter of which was reprinted in 1956.
