The Miniature Book Collector Volume I Nos. 1-2-3-4 Plus Two Miniature Life Magazines, Admomeit, Ruth
8 Admomeit, Ruth The Miniature Book Collector Volume I Nos. 1-2-3-4 Plus Two Miniature Life Magazines
Cleveland, Ohio Ruth Adomeit 1960 No. 1, Volumes 1-2-3-4 Soft Cover Fne Condition 48mo - over 3
These little magazines are revered by collectors and members of the Miniature Book Society which was launched by Ruth Adomeit and other like-minded bibliophiles. Adomiet lived in Cleveland, Ohio and at her time was the largest collector of miniature books in the world. The collection was bequeathed to Indiana University upon her death in 1996. Here we have the coveted first year's output -- all four magazines. In these pages, which measure 3-1/4"x4", are many topics including: how to define a miniature book; Le Petite Oiseau Press; Japanese miniature books; books about miniature books; Life Magazine in miniature; and more. Each issue has 16 pages. Also, along with the magazines are two much thinner issues of Life magazine, the very first issue which came out November 23, 1936 and a later one (no date) in full color, likely from 1960. These measure 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". Very desirable and very scarce. (Collector --Drawer I) -

On Book Design and Printing in the Twentieth Century, Blumenthal, Joseph
13 Blumenthal, Joseph On Book Design and Printing in the Twentieth Century
New Yotk The Spiral Press 1965 Limited Edition Soft Cover Fine Fine
Very elegant booklet, designed with a simple beauty. Only 400 of these ran off the press in 1965, so they aren't turning up everywhere. What caught my attention is how relevant the subject is in today's resurgence of fine presses and small-run books and booklets. Blumenthal was the founder of The Spiral Press, a historian, a designer, and a fine printer. The booklet has a white card cover and its own grey dustjacket, both of which are pristine. It measures 5-1/4"x8" and has 19 pages of text. This is a wonderful addition to a collection of books about books.

Crisp BRAND NEW book still in original publisher's shrinkwrap. An illustrated study of Horace Walpole's Strawberry Hill Press, founded in 1757, a highly regarded English private press revered for the qaulity of its offerings. The author was able to access a "remarkable array" of images of the Printing House, many of which are newly discovered and never before studied. Surprisingly, much of Walpole's Printing House remains.
