Book is crisp and clean with snow white pages and page edges, No names or writing and no bumps to boards. The dustjacket is likewise clean wtih no tears or chips and looks handsome in a brand new mylar cover. There is no price on the front flap as per design. The author was a Belgian scientist who arrived in New Orleans in 1857 whereupon he found himself disturbed by the ongoing slavery. After a stint of helping slaves and Unionists excape from Confederate Texas to Mexico. Eventually he returned to Louisiana where he got a job at a Feench language paper, L'Union, which became the New Orleans Tribune, the first African American daily in the U.S..where he ardently defnded the Black population. Book measures 5-3/4" x 8-1.2" and has 168 pages including index.

Book is replete with many handsome bl;cka nd white photographs printed on coated paper. Tells the story of the journalistic career of John Knight who is well known for his the Akron Beacon Journal. Great picture of Lyndon Johnson at the Beacon.405 pages including index.
