Beautiful magazine not often seen, published in both ENGLISH and ARABIC, but not simultaneously. The first version of the magazine is in English and then at the back the exact same one is presented in Arabic. Beautiful color photos and drawings in black and white. The organization which publishes it is a cultural entity which engages in organizing concerts, children's activities, art exhibits and loans to other museums around the world. One loan mentioned in the issue was given to the Cleveland Art Museum. Articles in this issue include: Medieval Islamic Textiles; Carpets; Urban planning and architecture; Tower Temples in the Ancient Orient; and more. Magazine is so beautifully done it looks like a book. Measures 8-1/4" x 12" and is very clean and nice.

A small bit of rubbing to bottom front and a few flat creases at same area. Looks most handsome in brand new mylar. Book is illustrated with drawings throughout and also provides historical information. 317 pages.

This is the story of Malcolm Kerr, an American scholar of Middle East Studies who took a job as president of the Americna University of Beirut. Seventeen months later he was assassinated leaving hiswife and children remained for a long period There is much to her sad story, plus much about Islam and the diversity of Lebanon's religous groups. For awhile the author stayed in Lebanon with her children, made possible because of her love of Lebanon that goes back to childhood. The book measures 6-1/2" x 9-1/2" and has 322 pages including index.

Book itself is clean and bright with no defect of note. Jacket is very clean, but shows wear and rubbing at upper front corner and at spots along the fore-edge with loss of color to a small area at lower fornt corner. The document being commented upon was written in 1018 while its author was imprisoned in Afighanistan. Its purpose was, in part, to define the geographical position of Ghanza with respect to Baghdad and Mecca in order to calculate the direction of Muslim prayers. In addition to the text there is much mathematical calculation, as the commentator, E.S. Kennedy,. taught mathematics at the University of Beirut. 270 pages. Not often seen.

The only fault to the dustjacket is the small triangular chip to top edge you can see in the photo. Jacket is protected by brand new mylar cover. Nine leading experts of the day convene to examine the elite of the mid-1970's and their decisions which impacted on peace and prosperity in both the middle east and the world. Book covers origns, history, composition, structures and polices of the elites from four Arab states, Israel, and Iran and Turkey, both of which were non-Arab Muslim states. Book measures 7-1/4" x 10-1/2" snd has 227 pages. Illustrated with graphs and charts.

Very nice clean book with no names or writing, no bumps to boards and pristine pages and page edges. Illustrated throughout text. Not too common. Cyrus Hamlin was a Congatioanl minister who signed on as a missionary and went to Turkey in 1839. Later, he founded a college in 1860 in Instanbul. When he finally returned to the U.S. he held several academic jobs, but his significant decision to admit women to Middlebury College in Vermont, in the 1880's was a choice which paid off for the school later. Book has 504 pages and is indexed.

A sweeping novel which endeavors to show the life of an average Arab family, their clan and tribal relationships, their attachment to the land, their history and their religion. 566 pages plus maps at back of book.
