Lear, Edward; Nash, Ogden The Scroobious Pip New York Harper and Row 1968 Hard Cover Fine Very Good Folio - over 12" - 15" tall Burkert, Nacy Ekolm Beautiful copy, so gently cared for. Book itself is clean as a whistle with no defect. Handsome blue and white pictorial endpapers. Pages, page edges, and boards pristine. Dustjacket is also very clean with one small tear to crown of spine area, but this is almost invisible in brand new protective mylar. Dustjacket clipped, but original price still visible. A funny, engaging poem by Edward Lear, the 19th century master of nonsense words and silly rhyme, in a which all the animals of the world gather round a strange, but magnificent bird known as the Scroobious Pip. What's interesting about this is that it was begun by Lear, but finished by another great rhyme master, Ogden Nash, who completed the missing lines of the almost finished manuscript found after Lear's death. Nancy Burkert's line drawings and beautiful pastel paintings are rendered with grace. Price: 17.95 USD
