The Japan Expedition 1852-1854 the Personal Journal of Commodore Mathew C. Perry

By: Pineau, Roger (Editor)

Price: $35.00

Quantity: 1 available

A relatively hard book to find in reasonably nice ex-library condiiton. The mylar cover is crisp and bright, there are not many library markings to pages -- most are confined to card pocket at back which was kindly adhered to the reverse side of the handsome pictorial endpapers so as not to ruin them. One stamp to top exterior and a small tear and tiny chip to bottom front edge. Small bit of darkening to bottom of DJ spine. Altogether quite respectable. Gorgeous art, including full color plates. Tells the sotry in Perry's own words of how he boldly sailed into Edo Bay and convinced the Japanese to sign a treaty that opened up commerce with the West. 241 pages.
