This popular magazine, oversized at almost 14" tall, is still fun to read, not just for the great ads, fashions, decorating and recipes, but also for the fiction and articles. A cute New Year's baby graces the cover of this issue which still has a subscription blank inside, plus great period ads for Campbell's soup, Ivory soap, Chesterfield cigarettes, and Butterick patterns, to name a few. Readers of fiction will be pleased to see Kathleen Norris with her story "Dearest Amanda" as well as Hope Hale's charming "Girl Friend's Boyfriend." The biggest name is this issue though belongs to Edna Ferber who appears with part IV of her autobiography "A Peculiar Treasure" which offers a fascinating look at her life from a 1914 trip to Europe to the beginning of her research on show boats for what would become her blockbuster book and the play, "Show Boat." The best news is that Part IV can be read as a stand alone Magazine is clean and nice with just a few small edgetears and a discreet blue mailing label at lower front corner
