Verey nice book -- clean blue-green boards with no bumps and no interior markings, or names. Measures 6-1/2"x9-1/2" and has 85 pages. The auction was held March 22, 1960 in two groupings, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening. Only fault is light foxing to reverse of back endpaper. 442 lots in all with books by Poe, Melville, Thomas Wolfe, Walt Whitman, and many other leading literary lights. The books' owner, Arthur Swann, had emigrated from England to work for an American auction house. Later, he organized the rare book and manuscript department for the American Art Association and also served as VP of the Brick Row Book Shop in New York City. In 1933 he became vice president of Parke-Bernet.
