Very nice clean book showing almost no exterior wear. Binding is tight and pages are clean. Only fault is paper over back hinge had been reglued. Just to be safe I mended it over with Japan paper to keep it secured. (see photos). Book is an interesting compendium of information on old families of the city and would be an excellent source for genealogical material. Measures 5-1/2"x7-3/4" Book is divided into two distinct parts, each printed on a different type of paper. The lengthiest section is comprised of alphabetical entries, each name followed by a short biography of one of the city's distinguished male residents. We were delighted to open the book at random and immediately see an entry for African American lawyer/author Charles Waddell Chestnutt. Other noteworthy bios include Edward Pechior Hyde for whom Hyde Park is named; and John Davison Rockefeller. The book's second section is printed on a coated white paper and is devoted to small portraits of each included man. Book includes a subject index and has 412 pages.
