Very interesting catalog, made more so by Tarkington's essay which offers information on the Dutch Masters and their art, but also on the importance of appreciating art that is not produced by Americans. Catalog is in excellent condition -- just a few superficial creases -- and very clean inside and out. Illustrated in black and white with a full page for each subject. Includes an insert, dated Februrary 27 -- April 11, 1937, the same dates as the exhibition, which provides pronunciation of the Dutch names. The exhibition dates are printed on the front of the catalog as well. Unpaginated. At the time of the exhibit the museum was 31 years old. It had been built in 1906 by the Art Association of Indianapolis and was located at 16th and North Pennsylvania Streets.
