Very nice clean, tiightly bound book with handsome decorative boards.Spine is lightly sunned, but boards remain bright. Hinges are tight with no cracking and there are no names or writing on light green endpapers -- or elsewhere. Tells Dr. Cook's own story of his discovery on April 21, 1908 and the Story of Commander Peary's discovery on April 6, 1909. Book also includes the record of earlier Arctric expeditions. Introduction is by George W. Melville , the survivor of three Arctic expeditons who also recovered the records of the Jeannette Expediion and thr remains of De Long and his crew. Melville was given a Gold Medal by Congresxs. Book is illustrated throughout (see photos). Measures 7" x 9-1/4" and has 448 pages. Only one shows some browning where a newspaper clipping was stored on top of it. Otherwise very nce.
