This is without question one of the most unique art books we've ever had. The author was/is a medical doctor, so what he has created is a fusion of science, pattern, and color to reach a new look at what can be called art. Oddly, there is no date, but it precedes the ISBN, so it's likely to be from the 60's. It's a very heavy book and in beautiful condition -- the only "fault" is a gift inscription written on a blank page at front. The art is simply the "stuff" that MAKES it the stuff. Wolberg sorted his subjects into these categories: vegetable, animal, mineral and familiar objects. Under the microscope went all sorts of things! Here are a few examples: pollen, algaes, airborne seed, fungus, bat hair, butterfly wing, rabbit esophagus, turtle tongue, cast steel, copper-zinc alloy, hard chromium, silk threads, cellophane tape, mustard, cotton, wool, bread, toothpaste and the print on a postage stamp. Book measures 11-3/4" wide and 10-3/4" tall with 293 pages. Includes fold-outs and tipped-in images as well as those printed on the page.
