Beautiful books -- clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. Black boards show no bumps and there are no names or writing inside. Pages clean and without foxing. Silver printing is still bright on faceboards and spines. Only fault is a stain to front of volume I which is seen when you hold it "in the right light." I took many pictures, but could not reproduce it. Books are comprised of 70 essays which were first published in the London Magazine from November, 1777 to August, 1783. This represents the first publication in hard cover. Books measure 6-3/4"x9-1/2" and have 696 collective pages including index. Illustrated on quality coated paper. Deckled page edges.
