The story of handmade lace has always interested me. Those who wore it were rich - those who made it went blind. At one point it was so valuable that dogs were relieved of their fur which was replaced with a fur "coat" that was stuffed with lace so it could be smuggled. I doubt that story is in here, as the focus is on the exhibit which was held in 1984. This was a second printing in 1986. It covers needlepoint lace, bobbin lace, bobbin applique lace, machine lace and imitation lace, plus lace clothing. Booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11 with 42 pages. All photos are described at back. Very clean and tightly bound with no names or writing.
