Amazing! The baby parade was a huge event in Asbury Park. It brought tiny contestants from all over the world and thousands of spectators and yet very little in the way of souvenirs exist from it. I had a 40th year program like this which turned out to be the baby parade's last one. As you see here in 1932 , the parade was coupled with a George Washignton Bicentennial. The baby parade began in 1891, the idea of a senator named James Bradley. You can actually see the 1904 parade on YouTube -- by the time the event came to 1931 it was much more sophisticated. The souvenir booklet is huge at 9"x12" and quality printed with numerous pages containing much advertising, photographs, and lots of information on contestants, attractions, prizes and donors. But here's the odd part -- there's not a single baby pictured! The program is tightly bound and clean with just a small bit of stubborn soil at edges.
