Blue boards with gilt printing to spines are pristine on both volumes, as are pages and page edges. No names or writing -- only toning to gutters. Jacket paper is crisp and clean on both volumes, but does show toning, as well as a light section to lower front corner of volume II. Both are handsome in mylar. NO SLIPCASE. Illustrated throughout with maps and small drawings by Parkman who provides detail on expeditions to the American wilderness, unexplored regions of New England, Canada, the Great Lakes area, London, Paris, Florida and Carolina. 718 collective pages including indexe Parkman was a prolific writer of American history. The journals were found in a Boston attic.
