This is an interesting offering from Sohio designed to both educate and promote appreciation for Ohio history. It was part of a series (of which two other albums are available), highlighting various aspects -- in this case literature. It comes in two pieces, the first of which is a full color pull-out which opens wide to reveal ten paintings by Ohio artists, each depicting a celebrated author. The second piece is a folder with large single sheet removable pages, each one of which corresponds to one of the paintings and provides the story of the person depicted. Featured writers are William Holmes McGuffey, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, William Sidney Porter, William Dean Howells, Zane Grey, Sherwood Anderson, Louis Bromfield, and James Thurber. Both pieces are clean as a whistle isnide and out. Only defect is a small abrasion to top rear edge of pictorial. Interesting to both those with an Ohio heritage of their own, and to to collectors of gasoline station memorabilia.
