Bromfield won the Pulitzer prize for this title when it debuted in 1937. This, however, is a reprint by Grosset & Dunlap. What's unusual is the fact that this reprint was SIGNED by Bromfield on the half title page thus, "With best wishes, Louis Bromfield." No names. Book is lacking dustjacket, but inspite of that is still quite nice with beveled boards and a large gold title box on spine. Book is tightly bound and clean. It measures 5-1/4" x 8-1/2" with 597 pages. Handsome vintage bookplate on front pastedown (see pohoto). View More...
