Very clean, tightly bound book, not too often seen. Small bit of wear to crown and tail of spine and a small errant white mark to front board. Pages are very clean throughout with no foxing. Former owner's name and date on front free endpaper (small) and to upper corner of front pastedown (smaller). Book measures 5-1/2"x8-1/2" . The author traces the history of the Freedman's Savings Bank from the need for such an institution following the Civil War, through its successes, its problems, the adminsitration of fFederick Douglas and its ultimate closing. 170 pages.
