Quirky, fun collectible! No date on this one, but clothing on drawings would indicate late 50's to early 60's. Bright pink sales brochure was issued to the would-be Formit lingerie salesperson, or as they say on the record, "corsetiere!" Inside it says, "Join Betsy White for a preview in sound of your Show Business Career." This is augmented by a drawing of the stylish Betsy White, a drawing of a female salesperson holding up a girdle, and a funky picture of an early 20th century chorus line. The record plays great and is laugh-out-loud funny. Includes music! Brochure opens as ... View more info

You'll Be Ahead with Nash 1946 Nash Brochure

By: No Author

Price: $20.00

Publisher: Nash: 1946

Seller ID: 24616

Condition: Very Good

This scarce brochure picks up on the theme Nash used in 1946 to draw attention to its latest models. I've seen several print ads in magazines with the same slogan. This brochure measures 5-1/2" high and 8-1/2" long, but opens to twice that size and then opens again to display on one side a bright colorful ad displaying all the new cars and measuring a whopping 17"x22". The previous owner underlined a few sentences touting all the extras that came with a Nash, but it's not glaring. There's much information on both sides. When folded back up the reverse shows the name of a Jackso... View more info

Publisher: Dayton, Ohio, E.F. MacDonald Company: 1962

Seller ID: 25126

This oversized catalogue is a monument to 60's clothing for men, women and children. It's clean as a whistle inside and out and measures 12" square. The photography is much more interesting than usual, as in addition to the regular shots of models, there are many large full color plates of vignettes where people are modeling the clothes against colorful backgrounds. Initially I thought this was a retail outlet, but it is not. E.F. MacDonald was an incentive company associated most commonly with Plaid Stamps. This catalog, however, makes no reference to stamps. Each item bears a number, but... View more info

Lion Brand Milk Premium Catalog The Magic Door

Price: $18.00

Publisher: Brooklyn, New York, Nestle's Milk Products:

Seller ID: 25252

Condition: Good-plus

Scarce premium booklet for Lion Brand Condensed and Evaporated Milks. There is curiously no date on this, but it appears to be from the 1920's. Research shows that the premium program was in effect as early as 1915 and was suspended in May of 1943 and all premium stores were closed due to war shortages. The book measures 4" across by 10" tall and has 26 pages of gifts to choose from including toys, household goods, jewelry, sports equipment etc. But the most interesting part is of interest to those who collect Girl Scout and Boys Scout ephemera. The book shows a page each for this with... View more info

All are in very nice clean condition, but the large one needs to be handled carefully when opened, as old paper of this type can be easily torn. So far it's done well! The large one measures 11"x16" when closed and opens to a full page spread of photographs while the reverse shows cartoons about how the Red Cross handles the injured on the road to recovery, those in home service, prisoners of war, an... An attractive cover design and a statement that the company's tours were geared to "the Intellectual Elite of the United States and Canada" was sure to attract its target audience. What's interesting about it is that non-students were welcome too, especially teachers, artists, professional people, Business Men and Business Women -- and, of course, their friends. This year's offerings included 128 different tours with an emphasis on the Passion Play of Oberammergau which is staged only every ten years. Wonderful souvenir of the encampment of the Grand Old Army in Cleveland in September, 1911. The program is clean and tightly bound, but does have some faults which include small tears to the yapped edges, a slight vertical crease to a few front pages and soil in a distinct grid pattern to back cover. This is not an oil-based stain, as it does not appear on the reverse side. The binding is tight thanks to two staples, but I wonder if at one time it was bound with thread, as there are three very tiny holes through the entire spine. At any rate, the pages are clean as a whistle and there are 92 o... View more info

There's also music and lyrics to the show's famous theme song (can you hear it in your head?), plus the Poll Parrot Song. A very big book for a very small town -- no page numbers, but it's 1/2" thick. Very nice and tightly bound with all faults external. The former owner stamped her name and address at upper corner of cover and there are some gray marks, both front and back, which looked like they should come right off the shiny surface with book cleaner, but did not. Many historical photographs and lots of text with advertising confined to back of book. One of the most complete centennial publications. View more info

Surprisingly scarce program published in honor of the 25th Independence Day Dance hosted by the North American Association of Venezuela. Clearly, this was a big event, as the ads in the program are largely national -- Chrysler has the back cover and Helena Rubenstein cosmetics has the flip side. Others inside include Ponds, Sears, Chevrolet, Elizabeth Arden and many more. The program is large at 9"x12" and has much information about the event itself, the liberation of Venezuela, and the ties that bind Venezuela to the United States. Very nice-looking and very informative brochure which folds out to be enormous 21"x36" with a color map on one side and information and small photographs on the other. The photos front and back show two different Liverpool hotels. Advertising at face indiscated that the railway was "the best way between Liverpool and London", but was also good for the midlands, Scotland, Wales and to and from Ireland. Also noted is the fact that it was the route of the LMS special trains between Liverpool and London "in connection" with Atlantic steamers. Brochure is clean and attractive with just a few sma...
