Book itself is crisp and clean with no names or writing and no bumps to bright pumpkin colored boards. Jacket is quite good, but does show a rectagular shadow to front from a bookstore sticker adhered to noncoated paper which is why we don't dare try to remove it. Spine has also sunned on jacket and there is a small tear to bottom back corner with a small loss of color and mild soil to back outer side edge. Beautiful book, clearly never read. It's bound in black leather and sports moire endpapers, four spine bands, a satin ribbon page marker, a lovely gilded design on both boards, and gilded edges on all three sides which gleam. This book is also Shirley Ann Grau's masterpiece. She has wirtiten many novels, but this one won the Pulitzer Prize for its theme of rage and racism.
