Crisp, as new book. Library edition but NOT an ex-lib. Absolutely pristine. We love the Abbeville Kids art books in this series and this one is no exception. No only does it impart information about artists and their interpretations of cities, but it also provides activities and questions that open doors to new understanding of how art is made. The art is in full color and just beautiful throughout. This one's a keeper. Measures 8-1/2"x9" View More...

Very nice clean booklet in the German language about Japanese art. I ran the title through Google translation, but it came out The Seven Glucksgotters. The only way I would know what this booklet is about is the photos and drawings of various art items from Japan. The booklet measures 7-1/4" x 10-1/4" and has 41 pages, most of which are at the back of the booklet View More...
This is not just a book about Harvey Dinnerstein and his artistic work, it's also Harvey Dinnerstein sharing his techniques with would-be artists. He discusses drawings, oil painting, the studio, evolving pictorial ideas, the work in progress, and more. The best of all though is the "Work In Prrogress" for which he paints a simple image and changes it by aplying a new process to the work. And then there's another change and another one until all become steps to get to the last and most beautiful picture..The book has been nicely cared for -- I bought it from the estate of a local artist who ... It's very hard to find issues of this journal dedicated to the art of marbling paper. This is the third issue published and is very clean with only one fault -- a small stain at the bottom corner which gets lighter as pages move forward. Affects pages 15 to 22 out of 24. Illustrated in black and white with the exception of one article which has a small piece of marbeled paper tipped-in. Articles include Marbling in Bee Sheva, Israel; the 19th Century Marbler; Alum & Its Use in Paper Marbling; Part I: Historical Material; Paper Surface Finish; Demystifying the Business Aspects of Art; How I Me... Studio Potter Journal which is at least 40 years old. It was only published twice a year. This is the first one for 1979. What's interesting about this one is two articles with photographs of the artist, Bernard Leach, a potter from Great Britain. The first article is "Bernard Leach 1887-1979: Towards A Standard" and the second is "Bernard Leach Two Recollections". The first one can be removed and opened up to reveal on the back a full two page poster image of Leach. Other topics are copper red glazes, producing brilliant copper reds in glass, copper red salt vapor glazes and a lot more about... View More...
Book itself is very nice and clean inside and out with no names or writing. Dustjacket, however, is only fair with chips, tears and rubbing. We have, however, place it in a brand new mylar cover to prevent further damage. Profusely illustrated, primarily in black and white. Limited color. Focuses on the thoughts and feelings which underlie all creative design. By exploring the judgements of organization, form, balance, movement, proportion, rythmn, tone and color, the reader gains a "fundamental understanding of his own creative power and develops the ability of self-criticism.
