These books are exquisite nestled in a bright red slipcase. The boards are white and the jackets are colorful and beautiful with the works of Matisse. The only fault is a couple tears to top edge of the spine. It was taped on both back and front, but I placed it in a mylar cover which helped quite a bit. The second volume has a few tiny tears at the same place, but it was not taped. I used a bit of archival tape on the back only. The books and the slipcase are clean and attractive. A long time ago when the earth was green I had one of these pink booklets. It sold rather quickly, but had no extras inside as this one does. As always, when extra items inside the main piece belong with it I never take them out and sell them individually. The main booklet covers gesso history, preparing gesso, materials for gesso frame finishing, coats of gesso, finishing with oil colors, obtaining an antique effect, a two tone finish, gold bronzing, and more. Very nice oversized book measuring 7-1/2"x11-1/2" with cloth boards and a leather spine tooled in gilt. Wear line along the edges of spine on both sides, more so at back than front.
