Very clean, nice issue of one of the star magazines of the 30's. The photography is excellent, as are the articles and the magazine's design. Three topics grabbed my attention -- a colorful piece about Anheiser-Busch and its bottled beer, Part I of a story about women in business, and a look at Mr. Rockefeller's renovation of Colonial Willamsburg. There's also a piece about the cotton industry, one on U.S. Smelting & Refining and a profile of Harry Hopkins. Magazine has no real defect of note. It measures 11-1/2"x14" and has 140 pages. We have around 40 issues of Fortune magazines from... View More...
Very nice, clean, four-sided brochure advertising Geo. L. Wood's Sons (late Geo. L. Wood & Son) Sole Proprietors and Manufacturers of "Paragon" Varnishes patented September 23, 1884. Though there is no date, we believe it to be from 1889 judging bythe testimonial at back stating how well the product withstood a Pennsylvania flood. Only fault is two horizontal creases. Attractive cover design shows horse and horseshoe. Inside explains properties of both the exterior and interior versions of the varnish, while back is reserved for testimonials. Measures 9-1/2" tall and 10-3/4" ... View More...

Crisp, as new book purchased from single owner who apparently did not read it. Illustrated profusely with black and white historical photographs. Also much text about an aspect of the company which is not as widely knows -- the purchase of 16,000 acres in Arizona in 1916 to grow the long staple cotton used to make pneumatic tires. From there came even more growth and the town of Goodyear is now home to 55,000 people as per the 2008 census. 127 pages. View More...
