Tightly bound and very clean with nice beveled edge to both boards. Brown cloth shows small bit of wear to corners and to crown and tail of spine, but no cracking to hinges, either fornt or back. Pages are also very clean with very light overall foxing to two blank pages at fornt and back. We are offering a brochure printed on both sides of a single sheet to make four pages. It was done by the Ohio Anti-Saloon League which was founded only a year prior to this in1893 in Oberlin, Ohio. An interesting and seldom seen title. Very handsome design and clean and tightly bound inside and out. Gilded top edge. The only detractions are a bit of wear to lower front corner and a small loss of gilt to horizontal line at bottom of spine. Overall quite nice. These four booklets taught young boys all manner of subjects -- first aid, Indian crafts, natural history, astronomy and more. The Lone Scouts were loosely organized, as membership did not hinge on adult leadership. Many kids lived in rural areas and were truly lone scouts. All you had to do was sign up through the mail and you could obtain the various publications and other items. In 1924, however, the loners merged with the Boy Scouts. What a beautiful souvenir of the 47th Annual United Federation of Doll Clubs held August 4-9, 1996 in Dallas, Texas. The box itself is so pretty -- opens at the side to reveal a soft cover book entitled Beautiful Children which fits perfectly inside and was printed especially for the purpose. The book contains lovely illustrations in both color and black and white which, along with the text, celebrate children everywhere.
